Onboarding Wizard
After creating a new organization, you enter the onboarding wizard -- a guided, multi-step process that sets up your dashboard. The wizard has 8 steps, though you will not see all of them depending on the path you choose. A step indicator at the top tracks your progress, showing dots only for the "work" steps (hiding the Welcome and Completion steps to avoid overwhelming you).
- AI-Powered path: 6 progress dots
- Fresh Start path: 3 progress dots
Step 1: Welcome
A brief introduction screen that greets you by company name and explains what RWRD will help you accomplish. Click Get Started to proceed.
Step 2: Regional Preferences
This step configures how numbers, dates, and currencies appear throughout your dashboard. RWRD uses IP geolocation to auto-detect your country and pre-selects appropriate defaults.
You can configure:
Display Currency -- Choose from 20 supported currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, AUD, CAD, ZAR, INR, SGD, KRW, NZD, SEK, NOK, DKK, CHF, AED, CNY, HKD, MXN, BRL). The currency symbol updates live as you select. Financial metric values throughout the dashboard will be displayed in this currency.
Date Format -- Choose from three formats:
- MM/DD/YYYY (US convention)
- DD/MM/YYYY (European/international convention)
- YYYY.MM.DD (ISO convention, common in Asia)
Region -- Controls number formatting (e.g., whether a thousand separator is a comma or a period). Options include English (US), English (UK), English (Australia), English (Singapore), German, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), and others.
Language -- Currently English only. Additional languages (French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese) are shown as "Coming Soon."
A detected country badge appears in the top-right corner (e.g., "South Africa," "Singapore") to confirm the geolocation result.
You can click Skip for Now to use defaults (USD, US English, MM/DD/YYYY) or Save Preferences to confirm your selections.
Tip: For testing, you can override the geolocation by adding
?testCountry=XXto the URL (e.g.,?testCountry=SGfor Singapore).
Step 3: Strategic Context (Optional)
This step captures qualitative information about your organization's strategic direction. It is explicitly marked Optional with a badge, and "Skip for Now" is always visible. The entire step is designed to take 2-3 minutes.
You can enter:
Company Purpose -- Why does your organization exist? What problem do you solve?
- Example: "To accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy"
Vision Statement -- What does success look like in 5-10 years?
- Example: "To be the global leader in integrated clean energy solutions"
Mission Statement -- How do you pursue your purpose day-to-day?
- Example: "We design, manufacture, and sell electric vehicles and clean energy products"
Strategic Pillars -- Your 3-year strategic priorities (up to 5). Each pillar has a name and an optional brief description.
- Example: "Market Expansion" with description "Enter 3 new geographic markets by 2028"
When strategic context is provided, RWRD's AI advisor uses it to align recommendations with your stated values and pillars, flag potential conflicts between recommended actions and your strategy, and measure OKR alignment across strategic priorities. You can also link individual OKR objectives to specific strategic pillars later.
If you skip this step, strategic context features remain invisible throughout the application -- they only appear when content exists. You can always add strategic context later through Settings.
Step 4: Setup Choice
You choose between two paths:
AI-Powered Setup (Recommended)
- RWRD's AI analyzes your company using public data, SEC filings (for US-listed companies), and any financial documents you upload.
- It pre-populates risk categories, individual risks with severity ratings, KRIs with suggested thresholds, and financial metrics with extracted values.
- You review every suggestion and can approve, edit, or reject each item individually.
- This path typically saves hours of manual data entry.
Start Fresh
- Begin with an empty dashboard.
- Manually create your risk categories, risks, KRIs, objectives, and financial metrics.
- Best for organizations with very specific, non-standard frameworks or those that prefer to build from scratch.
Select your preferred option and click Continue. If you choose "Start Fresh," you skip directly to the completion step.
Step 5: Company Information & Data Sources (AI Path)
This step gathers the information RWRD's AI needs for analysis. You provide:
Company Website URL (required)
- Enter your organization's website. RWRD's AI uses it to understand your business, industry, and operating context.
US-Listed Public Company (optional toggle)
- If your company is publicly traded on US exchanges, check this box.
- Enter your Stock Ticker Symbol (e.g., AAPL, MSFT, TSLA) and click Validate. RWRD verifies the ticker against SEC EDGAR and displays the confirmed company name (e.g., "Found: APPLE INC").
- When validated, RWRD automatically retrieves financial data from SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q) using XBRL structured data. This provides the most accurate data extraction.
- If you are an international company or not US-listed, leave this unchecked.
Financial Statements Upload (optional but recommended for non-SEC companies)
- Upload your annual report, financial statements, or board reports as a PDF or CSV file.
- PDF files up to 100MB are supported. The AI extracts financial metrics, risk information, and company data from the document using AI-powered document analysis.
- CSV files up to 10MB are processed locally in your browser.
- For public companies with a validated ticker, the upload area appears as an optional "Have additional documents?" section for supplemental data.
A security notice confirms that PDFs are analyzed using AI for accurate table extraction, documents are processed securely and not permanently stored, and CSV files are processed locally in your browser.
Click Analyze & Continue to begin AI processing.
Step 6: AI Analysis Processing
A progress screen displays while the AI analyzes your company. The process typically takes 30-60 seconds and involves multiple stages:
- Gathering company information
- Analyzing industry and competitive landscape
- Identifying relevant risk categories
- Generating Key Risk Indicators
- Extracting financial metrics (from SEC or uploaded document)
- Building risk intelligence
For public companies, RWRD combines SEC XBRL data with any uploaded documents for maximum accuracy. For private or international companies, the uploaded financial document is the primary data source.
Step 7: Approval Review
This is the most important step. RWRD presents every AI-suggested item for your review. Nothing is automatically added to your dashboard -- you control exactly what appears.
The review screen is organized into tabs:
- Risk Categories & Risks -- Each suggested risk category (e.g., "Operational," "Strategic") with its individual risks. Each risk includes a severity rating and AI rationale.
- Key Risk Indicators -- Quantitative KRIs for each risk, with suggested thresholds and monitoring guidance.
- Financial Metrics -- Extracted financial values mapped to the 20 standard metric definitions.
For each item, you can:
- Approve -- Accept the AI suggestion as-is.
- Edit -- Modify the suggestion (change names, values, thresholds, etc.) before accepting.
- Reject -- Remove the item entirely. Rejected financial metrics that had actual extracted values become hidden placeholders on the dashboard (visible via a "1 hidden metric" indicator with a "Restore all" link).
A progress counter at the top shows how many items you have reviewed (e.g., "12 of 15 reviewed").
Click Continue when you have finished reviewing.
Step 8: Completion
A summary screen showing what was set up. Click Launch Dashboard to enter your fully configured dashboard.
If you chose the "Start Fresh" path, you arrive at a clean dashboard with placeholder guidance to help you add your first metrics and objectives.
